HOW TO DEAL WITH PROCRASTINATION

My Definition: It is a disease that prevents one from doing things on time. That is postponing  meetings, general schedules, among others intentionally .
According to most dictionaries procrastination can be explained as The act of postponing, delaying or putting off, especially habitually or intentionally.

A lot a times I meet people who complain of having bad procrastination habits. So I decided to write something about the remedies for procrastination.
Below are some remedies I coined up:

Create a to-do-list. This will help you remember your important tasks. make sure you prioritize the tasks you have been avoiding this will help you accomplish it.

Know your state of mind. Procrastination is normally an emotional reaction. you need to know if your procrastination is due to anger because you hate a particular task, fear of failure, or incompetence?

Release your emotions. If you do not release the emotions behind your procrastination, it will remain in you and become a permanent habit, if your procrastination is due to anger, scream it out. if it is due to sadness, cry it out or speak to someone. then proceed to complete your task.

Counter you negative thought. Our thoughts can actually hinder our progress. how can one counter his or her negative thought? it is very simple! you can do that by thinking about positive things in relation to the task you want to accomplish. you can also open yourself up to receiving positive messages. change how you think!

Stop being a perfectionist. Do not wait until the perfect time or perfect plan of action to begin working on your task. take small steps and you will move forward.

Avoid putting pressure on yourself. Stop telling yourself that your future and success depends on the outcome of a particular task. By putting this kind of pressure on yourself, you will end up finding an excuse to escape completing the task.

Don’t underestimate your task. Some people procrastinate because they take a task very lightly or overestimate their abilities. You may think the task is very easy or won’t take any time at all. But when you actually get down to working on it, you find it’s harder than expected and thus you fail to meet your deadline.

Redefine your goals. When you’ve been procrastinating for a long time, take some time off from your work and reflect on your goals. Assess the practicality of your goals, then rearrange the timing and actions you need to take to achieve them.

Get rid of all the distractions. Identify the things that take up a lot of your time and distract you from completing the things you need to get done. For instance, you might be letting your time be stolen from you by distractions like emails, Facebook posts or endless browser bookmarks.

Finally, Remind yourself of the success you will achieve. Tell yourself how satisfying it will be to meet the deadline.
